Wish list or Want list?

So we're about one week from Thanksgiving so I guess its safe to say we're pretty much in the holiday season ^^: ( I even saw some homes already rockin their christmas lights in full swing!)

I've been seeing more and more posts and videos about and asking about what are on people's list. That may be wish or want list(there's a difference. Wish list are for things you want, but not get otherwise(house,car]. And Want is you want it, and you'll probably get it eventually[figs,games,etc.]) and can be from things from gunpla,figures, to anything else. I thought I'd share my list and ask what everyone else has on theirs. Not quite sure if these fall under a want or wish. I want it,but won't be getting it anytime soon probably. I will get it though.Maybe not by christmas or new years though. That makes it...want?wish??gah,moving on to the list!

Hobby Japan subscription for a year from J-list

There's a revolving pay per issue, but I think the flat fee for a year is a better deal for me($21.50 per issue). The other option is to have a sibling in NY pick it up for me at kinokuniya and ship it over, but I don't wanna hassle her.Plus the price point doesn't add up. Its about $20ish there for a reg issue, $35 for an issue with a prize.Then she still has to ship it. The $21.50 per issue from J-list is set so thats reg issues or prize included issues. and that includes shipping. I'd really love to not have to depend on scans.(nothing wrong with that, but having it in person is so much nicer to me^^)The sub price is definitely a bit steep though so I'll have to definitely wait when I have money to really burn.(maybe after income tax return??)

I haven't been really into my hobby work lately, but one thing that I did alot when I was knee deep in it was paint treatment out the wazoo. figs,models,anything really. Sorta my way of "marking" my stuff. in a giving stuff my own personal touch sorta way.(Is there a way to explain this without leaving opening for jokes??) I used to use this huge full size 6 horsepowered compressor.loud as hell and space killer to boot. It was that or using CO2 cans( which any real airbrush user will tell you, totally waste. Absolutely right, but when you gotta make do, you gotta make do.) It'd be great to get back into things full swing with top notch tools to rock it out at the hobby station ^^

I have a projector centered home theater in my room currently. 5.1 sound,my ps3, tv digituner, 5 disc stereo,etc. It a project that I'm fairly proud of doing.Everything was also set up to have remote operations so a universal remote could really be the metaphorica "cherry on top" for this. Sadly, I still do not have one and am currently using 6 remotes for home theater operations. Not a big deal as I know what does what, but it'd be nice to have ease of use. When I saw my uncle a long time ago with his harmony 1000, I was just blown away by how aweome it was. I know there's tons of tablet style u-remotes, but I totally dig the 1100. When I redid my room for the home theater, I even made a spot for it when I would get it right next to my psp go crade!{>.<}!

I originally had the small art book that was exclusively available online for gamestop Calamity Trigger pre-orders(which was nice,but kinda small), then my cat peed on it!!little bastard...he's fixed now, but I still had casualties T.T
But thanks to that incident, when I went online to look for a replacement- I saw something better. An artbook that was released for the psp version in Japan. 144 pgs and even has a dust jacket.snazzy. A friend of mine was able to snag one of the few last ones HLJ had a while back. Saw it.AMAZING. My shelf is lookin lonely waiting for the spot to be filled...and its still waiting.

Its just so damn awesome. Its not as epic as the pg mk II titans or the zaku2 or the rx-78, but I still like it. Plus I was totally digging the designs before I even knew what it was or even saw an episode of any gundam series. Plus, giant mech with giant katana? How does that not qualify for instant want?? The SP. Release comes with clear parts, a katana base, and ANOTHER KATANA. I've also never had a PG kit before so I'd like to try one out.

Why oh Why didn't I get both when I had the chance??? Now its barely available online and costs have reflected its scarcity. I'm such a big fan of the mech designs in Kurogane no linebarrel and Zone of the enders(same designer). If I get my hands on both, I'm combining their awesomeness into one kit and giving it a "real grade" paint scheme, meaning different shades of blue to really make the details pop. Koto kits are best painted and not just straight built and the vardant has the potential to be even more beastly than it already is! My Linebarrel model totally needs a partner to share the shelf and cross swords with ^^;

Last year, I gave 4 netbooks for christmas. This year, I turned my old clunker of a laptop into my secondary workstation(see room post). Currently I don't have any portable replacement, though my android phone does try at times,heh. I'd like to get one and be able to do a few things even when I'm on the road or have time to kill. I'd also consider it an additonal tool in my personal studies as well. A study tool is still a study tool,even if you have other uses for it sometimes ;)

For anyone growing up with the anime boom or the 80's or 90's, especially mecha related- you might recognize this. Maybe not as Tekkaman blade, but as Teknoman Slade. hah, anime dub changes. regardless, Blade here was one of the first mech designs to get me into mecha,anime, or anything related(along with guyver). I bought the old bandai kit and I know that there's 2 great premium figures of blade(there's even a pegus figure, but this really appealed to me. Its got that exaggerated offset design that some resin kits do, but its still tekkaman. Plus, LOOK AT THAT LANCE. its hella awesome.Its compatible with revoltech joints as well for revoltech styled posing,yay. That and this would be my first resin kit. My childhood demands this be bought!...eventually.



Ikkitousen's Kanu Uncho Miko ver.

I've never bought myself a figure(plus there's so many to pick from@_@),but I really like this look for Kanu. I've watched the ikkitousen series, but I wouldn't even think to put it in my top 10 or anything. I'm not saying its bad or good, but its not gurren lagann epic,but isn't like spiderman horrible. I just really like this design and look. Either figures look great and I wouldn't mind having the figure(either) or a resin kit of it. Of course, I don't think I'm quite capable of making it look as awesome so I'd rather the figure over the resin kit,heh.




Well, I think thats it for my list, until something gets thrown in there later. Anyways, these are the things I want and wish to acquire and aim to do so regardless of holidays or not. They're also the bigger and pricier things though as well ^^;

As you see, he's got some big-ass capacitors and a railgun that seems like it could punch a respectable-sized hole in a zombie. So on one hand, it appears it could electrocute him and/or explode and kill his neighbors at any moment. On the other hand, you know, railgun.

While the Project Real G seems to be coming to a close and the premiere is technically on July 11th, almost everything is done. I guess they aren't gonna do the buster rifle and shield?aww.anyways,the gimmicks are being tested, and most visiters to the park can already see it. I mean, its huge so how can a little fence hide it from people?heh ?{^^}?the first vid is kinda funny. The oohs and Ahs that follow with alittle movement.its like cavemen and fire,hahaha. but,really, it is a sight to behold. lucky park goers. They get a bada$$ gundam statue, I get a plain crummy park.grr. I swear, if There's an Optimus prime erected in another japanese park sometime soon, heads will ROLLLLLLLLL!!!!(>_<)!!!!!!

June 09, 2009 - Project Real G nearing completion!!

So, got up, got my morning coffee/tea and went to check for anything updated or interesting and what do I find? PROJECT REAL G has practically finished! I hear they're finishing up on the led work and the rifle & shield. ALOT of leds are gonna be in place. eyes plus 49 other places on the suit. anyhoo, its looks awesome(>_<)!!!! Seeing the new pics just makes me wanna see in person all the more. As soon as I gather enough funds for all my anticipated events/items, I'll pre-order the hg 1/144 anniversary rx-78 with the slightly new modern sculpt. awesomeness,just awesomeness. although....think about it, japan: - always tweeking the A.I. tech they're always developing. - Technically, they're 3 years ahead of the curve for us and almost 5yrs for the rest of the world in terms of advancement in technology,architecture,etc. - They now just constructed a real scale giant mobile suit that even fits within size and weight parameters( the list intel on a functioning unit is 350ish tons, empty-no guts statue built-300 or so tons) -They're always competing against korea in general advancements,etc,etc. - alittle bit more time and BOOM!!,working ms havoking in seoul. then, korea will one up them by building one,too. -Japan pushes the operating tech til the A.I. is at its limits,then..... SKYNET....giant, robotic,japanese, skynet. dum dUm DUMMMMMM......quick question-who will be the angst ridden 15 yr old to ride the first working prototype? hahhahahaha. enjoy the pics,all.

Update for the giant 1/1 scale RX-78 . Its really comin together. Its gonna be one hell of a site when its done. If I end up gettin contacted as to if I leave on my trip next month, I hope if I get the go ahead-that I get enough time to take care/confirm my travel arrangements. I'm so gonna see about makin a side trip to Odaiba.A connecting flight or something.heh, probably won't happen,but wishful thinking. I wanna be there in person looking up at this massive thing. Like I said, one hell of a site. This huge statue dwarfing over everyone with such details. Man,craziness.

Legs and waist are all finished, it seems.

The Decal detail work is insane ^^,jeez.so much detail.It just looks like It'll start moving any second now.Think about it. Those fences are pretty tall. That's an ankle. think about the rest of the unit.Total Dwarfage.Arms seem to be completed as well.They really didn't take too long constructing this at all. The resources used in this, I wonder...

Upper torso finalizing. I can't wait to see the head unit.

June 06, 2009 - digital converterboxes - the jerkoffs.

So I picked the last digital converter box for the house today. I was gonna get an insignia unit, but all best buy had was apex.bleh. After some light research work(and by research, I mean cnet and some other reviews/sites from the comfort of my home- lazy,soooo lazy.), I've found that for the converterboxes I've looked up based on local retailers and came to this-

Best Buy - Apex: always plenty and cheap,and I mean cheap in price and quality and performance. remote works like a bricked psp. unit is only line of site for remote commmands and still functions like crap if it does work. signal feed is bleh.on and off. on and off.headache causing really. I don't wanna go further with this thing,its just bullying at some point. with your government coupon, it goes from 49.99 to 9.99.....still not worth it if it was free.(ok, ok that was the last one...for now.)
- Insignia: A little bit more on price,but its worth it. Good solid unit. remote works for tv as well.capable of both recieving digital and analog signals like most boxes(surprisingly, there are some that only do one and not the other.). Also a plus, it does have aspect ratio control, as in 16:9 for those not super old tube sets but before the hdtv's came into existence. My sony is an example. It actually does support hdtv(via dvi port), but no tuner-boo. and most converters do support full/widesceen initially, but its not 16:9( I know from prior bad luck). Overall, with your government coupons, it goes from 59.99 to 19.99 so not bad. especially for a unit that works as well as it did.

My tv- its a widescreen unit. able to be like an hdtv,but not an actual hdtv-no digital tuner.dvi port though.ARGH!!!

Walmart - Magnavox: like the Apex unit.nuff said.(...SUCK A$$.just SUCK.it just,gah,ugh.waste,waste. If I tried a bad unit outta bad luck, it was the one that fell off a truck,from a 3 story building,kicked onto the shelf and shaken up for good measure.)with your government coupon, it goes from 49.99 to 9.99. reeeeee eeee eeee ipahH oFFFFfffffuh.
- RCA: this is actually the best unit for performance,quality, and price.Hell, cnet actually gave this thing the highest rating out of all the other converterboxes. It works like any other unit.good solid remote. big buttons a plus for older uses.easy guide and menu.both analog and digital work fine. compatible with smart antennas.oh yeah, the remote is not line of site exactly. as long as its point in the general direction of the box - it works fine. slight delay on button to onscreen reaction in terms of # pushing for channels. but they all respond,just not instantly. that could just be because I don't actually point to the box.anyways, its a good unit and plenty in stock usually at your local walmart.

The best overall for performance and price according to CNET.

I wanted to get 1 rca and 1 insignia,but no best buy closeby had one.so I had to settle for 2 rca.still good.

Also, comes with dual positioning for sitting or standing unit. not neccesary in the very least,but nice.
