Updates-a busy IRL, spoiler to some of my fun...

So its been a few months(probably a lot longer actually) since I last updated. Sorry for the lack of activity going on here. All my work has been crazy hectic. IRL is seriously not to be trifled with, heh. I'm juggling work at the comic shop, running the vending machine business, planning the big group trip to New York for NYCC/NYAF in Oct, prepping for a big move into a house after the NY trip, trying to squeeze some semblance of a social life and not disconnect myself from friends and family, and then of course time to myself for downtime(anime, movies, reading, music, hobby work, etc.) Lots of stuff going on. Not to mention all these frickin pre-orders I have at AmiAmi. Hopefully, that won't come back to bite me in the butt.

Anyways, definitely don't have alot of time in the day for the last item on that list. Heh, my documents on the PC is full of checklists, planning guidelines, and the sort. Its the only way I know to keep everything(on my mind or not) organized to make sure everything gets handled. So much stress, its ridiculous. Luckily, I have food, booze, and a few few low maintenance lady friends to help de-stress(for the most part,ha)

As for the blog and other things, I devised a schedule as well to help things progress (another set of guidelines/schedule? for serial,yup. Besides, I'm all about the progression of things,yo.) I'm gonna try and squeeze at least 3 posts here a week and at least one youtube vid a month. Its still hard to set up, but I'm gonna give it a shot. I have more than enough material to post about so I shouldn't have any trouble finding stuff to post. Its just the time aspect, but thats just another opponent to beat down and curb stomp with time management^^;

August 21, 2010 - Back from RL, I bringeth gifts of the progress pictured kind

Is ProjectEAE back and active again??

So its been quite some time since I've updated last. I've also had a few changes and been doing many things. However, with so much needed vacay time coming up- I can stop neglecting this, my vids, my hobbys, pretty much everything so yay for vacations!!So lets start with some questions regarding this blog-

Q:How active will you try to be from now on?

A:No clue. I'll try to put forth more effort since I'm back again, but no guarantees. But don't fret, I even lurk on my own site.

Q:Why haven't you been covering anything about animes or movies?

A:Gotta watch em first.

Q:Ever gonna get back to the hobby work?

A:Progressing back into it as you read this.

Q:What's up with food posts? I'm tired of looking at card crusher and egg in the basket.

A:Ask and ye shall receive.

Q:Should I totally follow this blog again and start commenting?

A:Damn straight. if there's feedback, I'm more likely to keep up with it.

And with that, I'll end this post and begin the posting update storm.Oh yeah, if you haven't seen scott pilgrim vs the world in theatres yet- go see it. major wicked. If you don't, you run the risk of an EPIC fail.

Oct. 11, 2009 - 10 japanese travel faux pas(what not to do)

So I saw this post a few days ago and noticed its been multi-posted numerous times, but hey- its a really good post.I just had to continue its spread. especially #4,heh. And I DO plan on a trip so this is somewhat interesting...anyways,enjoy some "interesting travel tips" for when you go to the land of the rising sun.

Original article:

10) Misuse Your Shoes

Thresholds at businesses and all homes and apartments in Japan have a convenient place for you to store your shoes and don borrowed slippers for your journey. However, did you know you should never wear slippers on tatami mats? It's also a huge cultural faux-pas to come out of the bathroom still wearing toilet slippers, as they've been rubbing on dirty linoleum (although this even slips Japanese minds from time to time).

9) Bathe in the Bathtub
The bathing culture in Japan is unparalleled. Even if I soak in a mineral pool in the backwoods of New Zealand, nothing will make me feel more cleansed inside and out than a soak in a traditional Japanese hot spring resort. Ignoring the fact the water is still hotter and contains more minerals than most hot pools abroad, Japanese bathing etiquette dictates one should shower thoroughly before entering the steaming bath; if you were to do otherwise in Japanese homes (as a guest you would be given the honour of bathing first) the family would have to completely drain the tub, clean out the ring, and refill. You'd probably just be kicked out if you brought soap and shampoo into the pool at a public bathhouse.

8) Fumble with Chopsticks

You don't have to be able to pick up an individual grain of rice to use chopsticks properly. Rather, just be aware that there are a few things for which they were not meant to be used. First, even if you're sharing dishes with a group, do not pass food from one set of chopsticks to another, as this is considered in bad taste. Second, when not using them, set your chopsticks across your plate or bowl as you would a knife; poking them out of your rice resembles two sticks of incense commonly used for a certain death ceremony... and why would you want to be reminded of that over a fine dinner?

7) Grope on a Train

Obviously this isn't a mere misunderstanding of cultures if such an act were to occur, but even when visiting Japan and having nothing but pure intentions, one should be aware of the dangers. Women (and even men) have been fondled on crowded trains and often cannot trace the hands back to their owners. This has lead to women-only subway cars during peak travel times, and the police giving advice to young girls: seize the arm of your attacker and don't let go until security sees his face. I only mention this because if you're a foreigner riding a train in the land of the rising sun who knows absolutely no Japanese, and when disembarking you find a man or woman screaming "shijou!" or "chikan!", respectively (the terms for female and male perverts), you're essentially at the mercy of one individual who may have mistaken your desire to get a little bit of room on the car as blatant groping.

6) Choose the Wrong Seat
There's a somewhat antiquated custom when it comes to eating out in groups. If you're with some business colleagues, it's better for a junior member (in terms of hierarchy, not age) to take the seat closest to the doorway or access point, the senior member the farthest away. The belief is that should an attack occur, the least experienced (thus the least valuable) will be killed first, giving the others time to mobilize and protect the higher-ups.

5) Show Strong Emotions
One of the most common mistakes a foreigner makes upon entering the Japanese business world is to openly express his frustration when the unexpected comes along... and it always comes along. Showing strong emotions like anger is a social death sentence in Japan; the only time someone might get away with it would be if he were seriously inebriated, or at least making the effort to get there. Tears, especially those of happiness, can be forgiven (even from men), but take care to keep your temper in check.

4) Blow Your Nose
Even out on the street when it's sub-zero degree weather, blowing your nose in Japan is probably one of the rudest things you can do, even more so if you're talking with someone face-to-face and take a moment to pull out your handkerchief. It's the equivalent of asking someone to watch you use the toilet.

3) Yawn
This is a good policy for conversations around the world, but it really hits home in Japan. Whereas in the States or other countries one might dismiss a tired expression with a certain nonchalance or a chuckle (e.g. "crazy night on the town?"), in Japan you might as well slap your superior in the face to completely prove your desire not to listen.

2) When Listening...
I had an interview with an English school in Akita Prefecture not too long ago. As I was listening to the manager speak via Skype, I realised how out of practice I was at listening by Japanese standards. He spoke for only a few seconds at a time, each time taking my silence as an indication that the call must have been disconnected. Why? Because I failed to provide the appropriate guttural sounds: when speaking one-on-one with someone in Japan (group meetings can be an exception), it's best to utter a few words every now and again to show you still have the speaker's attention. A simple hai (yes), or so des ne (ah, I see) can work wonders.

1) Respect Yourself
Modesty is a virtue. I cannot count the number of times as an English teacher I gave high praise to certain young Japanese students, only to have their parents contradict me by saying something like "yes, but she's terrible studying at home" or "no, you must be mistaken". Disregarding or refusing complements in Japan is the only way to accept them graciously:

(in Japanese)
Me: Excuse me, but could you tell me the way to the nearest train station?
Japanese: Ooohhh! Your Japanese is so skillful!
Me: No, no, it's nothing really.

By claiming you have no skills or any life experience exceeding that of another, you in fact raise their impression of you. If I were to refer to myself as "Turner-san" or respond to such praise of my language skills with "Thank you very much! I have been diligently studying for nine months!", then I might be forgiven as an ignorant foreigner... but more likely marked as arrogant.

Interesting indeed, anyone with any additional thoughts?

July 28, 2009 - Iron Man Pics from SDCC

Hall of Armors?
Comparison shot tween the mark III and the new armor(mark IV???)

Better shot of the new armor,I'm liking the subtle changes, especially the more pratical and comic-true lower torso/ab plates. the current comic inspired gauntlets look cool, too. It looks as if they decided to cover some of the mechanical inner detail they had on the mark III to make it seem more upgraded, but still not too ahead of the previous armor(very comic iron man-eey)I get the feeling that if anyone who's a fan of ol' shellhead doesn't quite love the new armor, they could change their mind when we see it more in action. I'm digging it.
SideNote*-hahaha,upper trapezius armor on one side is sloping,heh.funny.

July 25, 2009 - Wolverine Anime Teaser

Wow....spoke too soon. kay, well Logan has his trailer....its certainly a "re-imagining." I totally think Anime when I see it.maybe more anime than wolverine?anyhoo, interesting take on it all,we'll see how it turns out. Still, I'm always a shellhead fan.Bring it on, Iron neo-nazi!!!!....oh yeah, here's the teaser.enjoy, yada yada,GARRR--iron nazi #$%&!!!!

p.s.- not that I think about it, maybe it's daken(logan's son),but if it is,then wrong claw placement(supposed to be 2 on top,1 outta wrist),then again, wolverine's claws are supposed to be out between his knuckles, not between fingers.whatever, shellhead rocks like RDJ/stark has/have a drinking problem,ah(>_<)!!!

July 25, 2009 - Iron Man Anime teaser trailer

So announced not too long ago, Marvel Studios would collaberate will known Anime studio-Madhouse( did alot of stuff - batman:gotham knight, black lagoon, death note, gungrave, gunslinger girl, ikki tousen, beyblade,FFVII:the last order,Ninja Scroll, Rideback, Tenjho Tenge,Vampire hunter D: Bloodlust, Trigun, Wicked City, Devil hunter yohko, Devil may cry, Hellsing Ultimate, Claymore,Bio hunter - to name a few.)

July 18, 2009 - Iron Man UPDATE - Higher Rez scan.

You can click on the image for a higher rez scan. You can kinda get a good idea of the mark IV(?) with the new added details. I especially like the improved mid-torso piece. it always kinda bothered me a bit from the first movie.Don't get me wrong, its fine and all, but some shots make that section take away from the whole superhero bodyshape/suit it was intended to have. the new sculpt seems a bit more closer to current comic-esque inspired designs as well(not that the mark III wasn't). That being said, this photo probably doesn't do it enough justice.(being that its a bunch of attached plastic pieces) If you couldn't see the armor seams, it wouldn't even give an idea of how it'd look. Most likely, when you see it in action(CG or otherwise), it'll probably be more flattering. and now to leave some shellhead pics for your enjoyment.

Some comic image references

Huh....never knew Hot toys were marvel legends icon scale. interesting.well, anyways-a pic to commemorate the marvel civil war and Cap's death....even though I hear he's back now.
